I spent my holiday break creating this environment. All assets, except the grass and bushes, were created by me in Maya, Zbrush, and Speedtree. Textures are from Quixel bridge, but all materials graphs were created by me in Unreal.
I wanted to focus on creating a larger open space environment that had multiple areas of focus and strictly used modular assets. The main two focuses are the driveway and plantation house.
I sped up a lot of the work by creating a master material that included four vertex painting channels as well as a large set of options for varying textures. I also implemented a way to use multi channel textures as well as single channel textures allowing the master to be very versatile.
I spent a number of hours playing with post processing to get lights that fit with the plantation style I wanted.
This was a very fun project to work on and I learned a ton about blocking out and how much easier it is to work with modular assets!
